Meet Bo Yan - Master of GMP Student

My name is Bo, and I have a lovely three person family. After graduating from my Master’s degree, I received a quality offer in WuXi Apptec. I'm in the beginning of my career.

I am passionate about solving problems, and I am devoted to making the Chinese medicinal system stronger. Also, I love the pharmaceutical industry, I think it's really interesting.

GMP is Good Manufacturing Practice, which is used in pharmaceutical and food industries to ensure that the products have good quality. All parties of any company should participate and make good cooperation to achieve the goals of safety, efficiency, and quality.

UTS is the only university that provides the course in the Asia-Pacific region. Australia’s good culture and weather also helped bring me here.

The most rewarding aspects of the course were the good teachers, nice subject quality, and friendly classmates. You get lots of chances to apply what you've learned, not just by listening, but by doing. Not just knowledge, more about applying knowledge.

It can be pretty hard to balance work/study/life. When I was in Australia, it was easier to balance them because I was able to focus on my study without any other job. When I was free, I always hung out with my friends. But Covid changed a lot.

Online studying gave me more free time, so I decided to study with an internship. It made me busy and I had no time to do what I like. However, this period of busy experience help me to find the job from WuXi.

I found that studying online made study harder, because we didn't have the chance to talk face-to-face. Teachers didn't have whiteboards to draw and write notes, and students could not get answers and responses immediately as easily.

I'm now working at the largest CMO and CRO Pharmaceutical company in China.  The GMP degree makes me special, because only a few students in China have that qualification, and I was able to show my knowledge and assignments in work interviews. Also, because the GMP course was very practical, I can apply what I’ve learned across the entire job.

I hope that I can go further in my current company. The most important thing is to learn more, to know more, to make myself stronger by doing my work. And when you have more experience, when you become more knowledgeable, you can go further in the industry.

If you want to discover or explore more in the pharmaceutical industry, if you want to know how to produce good quality medicine, choose this course. You will find lots of fun in this course.
