SeerPharma is proud to sponsor and participate in the 2nd Annual Eye & Tissue Banking Conference, hosted by the Eye Bank Association of Australia and New Zealand (EBAANZ).

Taking place in Brisbane on March 4-5, 2025, this premier event will bring together key stakeholders from across Australia and New Zealand to discuss advancements and challenges in eye and tissue banking.

About EBAANZ and the Conference

EBAANZ is the peak body representing eye donation and transplantation services in Australia and New Zealand. As a not-for-profit organisation, it plays a crucial role in restoring sight, setting industry standards, and advocating for the unique needs of eye banks. The 2025 conference will feature keynote presentations, research findings, and panel discussions from leading experts in the field.

As part of our commitment to supporting GMP best practices in eye and tissue banking, SeerPharma Senior Consultant Michelle Peake will deliver a presentation on Aseptic Processing in Eye and Tissue Banks.

Aseptic processing is fundamental to ensuring the sterility and safety of donated tissues for transplantation. While organisations invest significantly in validating cleanroom environments, equipment, and process trains, aseptic techniques can sometimes be overlooked, leading to contamination risks. Michelle’s session will focus on three key areas often observed by our team:

  1. Aseptic Processing Validation
    • Requires substantial expert resources but is often treated as a short-term goal for GMP inspection compliance rather than a continuous improvement process.
  2. Training and Operator Competency
    • Initial and ongoing training for operators is costly, and organisations often struggle to allocate adequate time and resources, despite this being a critical area of risk.
  3. Cleaning, Disinfection, and Environmental Monitoring
    • Cleaning and disinfecting practices are frequently inconsistent, impacting aseptic processing outcomes.
    • Environmental monitoring is a vital tool for evaluating contamination control measures—but are organisations truly leveraging the data to optimise their investment?

The team will also be showcasing our strategic partnership with MasterControl, to help eye and tissue bank operations digitise their quality management (eQMS) and manufacturing workflows (eBR/eLogbooks).

Plus, we'll be exhibiting some of the latest advancements in immersive VR training from Uptale, a game changer for preparing and training staff in aseptic environments.
